This was my return to Legacy of Yu after a short break, and a lot of the opening is me just catching up on life stuff. Back to school season, job changes, family schedule, trying to get reviews and website updates going, all of that. Once the game starts though, it turns into a pretty focused campaign session. I still had the wall to deal with, I had tougher barbarians shuffled in from the previous win, and I was trying to figure out if the game was finally going to really punish me for all the stuff it had been adding.
The good news is I got rid of the wall early, and that made the whole game feel way more playable. I believe it is removed from the Campaign for good. From there it was a matter of staying on top of the barbarian flow, not overextending, and making sure I could finish the food shortage requirement before trying to close out the canals.
I do get another win here, and I finally get the feeling that the campaign is maybe giving me a little breathing room. Then the victory card shows up and adds another set of barbarians that don’t deal damage but make more barbarians come out. So, you know, breathing room with a catch. Not sure if will be more difficult than the wall… but also unclear if any will be removable permanently.
